The Position:
  • Working closely with the site manager or superintendent to manage financial and administrative needs of the project
  • Determine the necessary equipment, materials, and manpower needed
  • Keep track of inventory, tools and equipment
  • Ensure supplies and equipment are ordered and delivered according to schedule
  • Prepare job status reports
  • Lead meetings with company staff and client representatives
  • Be solution oriented to solve problems effectively
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and construction codes and regulations
  • Collaborate with management staff, subcontractors, engineers, and key team members

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • A degree and/or certification in Construction Project Management or related field is preferred
  • Familiar with Primavera P6 project management and scheduling software, preferred but not required
  • Conflict resolution and conflict management experience

The Position:

Jackson Demolition is seeking experienced and safety-oriented Equipment Operators to join our team. We are specifically seeking Operators who are proficient with operating backhoes and other construction equipment used in the demolition industry.

The Position:
  • Operates heavy equipment of various sizes and weights used on site.
  • Properly follows company and OSHA safety procedures. Bring problems to the attention of the project Foreman, Superintendent, General Superintendent or Safety Director.
  • Follows daily procedures and protocols as set forth in job orientations and training.
  • Performs routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to project Foreman, Superintendent, General Superintendent or Safety Director.
  • Assists in training entry level employees to perform maintenance and repair duties as required or assigned.
  • Helps identify any underground and overhead utilities have been located/exposed prior to excavating.
  • Completes excavation for pipe inside trench boxes and double-stacked trench boxes.
  • Provides backup site supervision in the absence of Foreman and/or Superintendent.
  • Reviews trenching requirements with Superintendent and ensure any required protection is available.
  • Keep project foreman, superintendent, or general superintendent informed of known actions, written or verbal, which may affect the ability to successfully perform tasks at construction project sites or adversely affect Company operations.
  • Other projects or duties as assigned by management.
Experience Requirements/Preferences:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience operating 100,000+ pound excavator/backhoe.
  • OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR, and the ability to follow applicable safety precautions as well as view and understand Jackson Demolition’s safety training video is required. Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations is also required.
  • Considerable knowledge of heavy equipment operating principles. Ability to drive and operate heavy equipment under varying working conditions. Ability to read and comprehend grade stakes and/or site plans.
  • Good communication skills both oral and written when working with all levels of management and employees, external vendors and other business associates. Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions. Must have good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency as required by management and/or project requirements.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must be able to work 8 to 12-hour workdays, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends. Must be flexible regarding work hours including evenings and weekends.

The Demolition Foreman manages the daily site activities by ensuring the project is constructed in accordance with safety, design, budget, and schedule. The foreman directly manages the lead personnel and staff on each project site.

The Position:
  • Daily communication with General Superintendents regarding job specific needs including workforce and equipment requirements.
  • Daily contact with job site crews to ensure project time schedule and workforce needs are being met.
  • Schedules subcontractors to complete work as needed. Monitors subcontractor work to ensure work is complete per subcontractor agreement.
  • Maintains safe working environment by identifying workplace hazards and taking corrective action when necessary.
  • Ensures employees have up-to-date information on safety procedures and policies.
  • Conducts daily Job Hazard Awareness meetings, daily stretching, and weekly Tool Box topics.
  • Complete daily record keeping including daily logs, equipment schedules, material schedules, and time cards.
  • Manages field personnel in fair and equitable manner in accordance with Jackson Demolition policies, procedures, as well as compliance with local and federal laws.
  • Addresses staff performance issues as they occur.
  • Participates in pre-construction meetings to discuss project start up and project planning. Prepares and participates in regular job site meetings throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provides timely and accurate documentation for reporting safety issues, equipment damage and work place injuries, according to Jackson Demolition policies and procedures.
  • Ensures all work follows specified quality standards. Inspects field work for quality compliance, materials for quality compliance and review assembly of manufacturer’s literature and drawings before work begins.
  • Responds to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Regular participation in training for construction methods and safety. Supports training opportunities for staff.
  • Keep general superintendent informed of known actions, written or verbal, which may affect the ability to successfully perform tasks at construction project sites or adversely affect Company operations.

Experience Requirements/Preferences:
  • Five to ten years’ Heavy Industrial Demolition experience.
  • OSHA 30 hour, HAZWOPER certificate, Excavating Safety Training, Blueprint Training, CPR, First Aid.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret policies, reports, plans, specifications, and legal documents.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel spreadsheets, iPad and iPhone.
  • Ability to communicate and schedule project needs appropriately.
  • Good communication skills both oral and written when working with all levels of management and employees, external vendors and other business associates. Must clearly communicate directions and information. Speaks effectively before groups as well as individuals. Must have good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages ratios, and proportions to practical field quantity situations.
